LOOK: MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ Threatens Leaving 'Fast & Furious' Movie Franchise
It looks like we might be saying goodbye for good to Michelle Rodriguez's character in the 'Fast & Furious' films.
In a recent Instagram post, she captioned “F8 is out digitally today, I hope they decide to show some love to the women of the franchise on the next one. Or I just might have to say goodbye to a loved franchise. It’s been a good ride & I’m grateful for the opportunity the fans & studio have provided over the years.”
The actress is best known for her role in the films as the bad-ass girlfriend of Vin Diesel's character, Dom Toretto She has been playing as Letty ever since the series started back in 2001.
The franchise has seen an increase in strong female characters (including that of Wonder Woman lead Gal Gadot, MMA superstar Rhonda Rousey and the latest villain of the franchise Charlize Theron), it seems Michelle is still unhappy with how the men seem to dominate the movies.
“I’ve been making movies with Jordana (Brewster), who plays the sister of Dom Toretto, for 16 years and I can count on one hand how many lines I’ve had to her,” she said in an interview Entertainment Weekly. “I think that’s pathetic and it’s lack of creativity.”
"I’m a complete, sheer, utter feminist. On day one, I [changed] the character from being something that I could not do in front of millions of people into a character that I’m actually proud of," stresed Michelle. "But at the end of the day, what message are we sending out there for women? It does weigh heavy on my head — especially in the male-dominated environment that I work in."
