WATCH: 11 LINKIN PARK Songs We Love!
The whole music community is mourning the sudden death of Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington. There was an outpour of condolences and heartbreaking messages from fellow artists and fans for the 41 year-old singer who was survived by his wife Talinda and his six children.
Chester first rose to prominence back in 2000 with the release of Linkin Park's debut album Hybrid Theory which tackled his previous struggles with depression and substance abuse. Let's look back at some of the band's greatest hits below:
One Step Closer (Hybrid Theory)
The band's debut single was used in the end credits of the film Dracula 2000.
"Everything you say to me takes me one step closer to the edge and I'm about to break."
Papercut (Hybrid Theory)
"It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back. It's like a whirlwind inside of my head. It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within. It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin."
Crawling (Hybrid Theory)
Linkin Park won the Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance in 2002 for this song.
In The End (Hybrid Theory)
Everyone knows all the words to this massive hit.
"I tried so hard and got so far but in the end, it doesn't even matter. I had to fall to lose it all but in the end, it doesn't even matter."
Somewhere I Belong (Meteora)
"I wanna heal, I wanna feel what I thought was never real. I wanna let go of the pain I've felt so long. / I wanna find something I've wanted all along, somewhere I belong."
"I can't feel the way I did before. Don't turn your back on me, I won't be ignored. Time won't heal this damage anymore. Don't turn your back on me, I won't be ignored."
"I'm tired of being what you want me to be. Feeling so faithless, lost under the surface. Don't know what you're expecting of me, put under the pressure of walking in your shoes."
What I've Done (Minutes to Midnight)
The album's lead single was featured in the first Transformers movie.
Leave Out All the Rest (Minutes to Midnight)
This was also included in the soundtrack of the first Twilight film.
"When my time comes, forget the wrong that I've done. Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed. Don't resent me and when you're feeling empty, keep me in your memory, leave out all the rest."
Iridescent (A Thousand Suns)
It was the theme song of the 2011 sequel Transformers: Dark of The Moon.
"Do you feel cold and lost in desperation? You build up hope, but failure's all you've known. Remember all the sadness and frustration and let it go."
Castle of Glass (Living Things, 2012)
It was released as a promotional single for the video game Medal of Honor: Warfighter.
"Bring me home in a blinding dream, Through the secrets that I have seen. Wash the sorrow from off my skin and show me how to be whole again."
