Filipino-American director Dean Devlin officially marks his Hollywood directorial debut with Warner Bros. Pictures' new epic thriller "Geostorm"!
In a press release, the Fil-Am director - who also wrote and produced the 1996 film Independence Day - revealed that the concept for the narrative of Geostorm started when his daughter asked him about climate change. “In the simplest way, she asked me, ‘Why can’t we just build a machine that fixes it?’ That sparked all these ideas in my mind about what would happen if we did build just such a machine. And what if something went horribly wrong? That became the ‘what if’ story—what if we wait too long to deal with extreme climate change? What if we don’t? What if we could create this amazing machine to control the weather around the entire planet? And what would we do if it went rogue?"
In the film, a system devised to keep everyone on Earth safe from natural disasters started undertaking the planet after something about it has suddenly gone amiss. Will they uncover the real threat before a massive geostorm wipe out the earth? Watch the trailer below:
Geostorm also stars Gerard Butler, Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Alexandra Maria Lara, Daniel Wu, Eugenio Derbez, Ed Harris, and Andy Garcia. It opens in Philippine cinemas on October 12.
