LOOK: EMMA WATSON Reveals Why She Declined "Cinderella" Role!
Less than two months away before the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast hits the big screen, Emma Watson revealed something really big to all her fans: she was supposed to play Cinderella back in 2015! Sadly, she turned it down.
In the latest issue of Total Film, the 26-year-old British actress went on a tell-all interview about declining the role of Cinderella which was eventually taken by Lily James.
"I didn’t know they were going to make Beauty and the Beast at the time I turned down Cinderella," she said. "But when they offered me Belle, I just felt the character resonated with me so much more than Cinderella did," she continued.
She noted how closely related what she believes in and Belle is, saying the Disney princess "remains curious, compassionate and open-minded. And that’s the kind of woman I would want to embody as a role model, given the choice."
"In a strange way, she challenges the status quo of the place she lives in, and I found that really inspiring. She manages to keep her integrity and have a completely independent point of view. She’s not easily swayed by other people’s perspective — not swayed by fear-mongering or scapegoating," she added.
Well, that explains a lot considering she is an activist whose ideals in life goes way beyond incomparable measurement. Way to go, Emma!
