If you ask me, a a live-action update of the classic animated series The Powerpuff Girls has been long overdue. Lucky for us, such is reportedly already in development thanks to The CW.

Heather Regnier (Veronica Mars, Sleepy Hollow) and Diablo Cody (Juno, United States of Tara) are on board to oversee the film's script while Greg Berlanti acts as mega-producer. Additionally, Sarah Schechter and David Madden of Berlanti Productions will also executive produce.

Switching from animation to live-action, America's pint-sized superheroes turn into "disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhoods to crimefighting." The question is when the world needs them more than ever, will they agree to reunite?

The Powerpuff Girls aired from 1998 to 2005 on Cartoon Network. A reboot ran for three seasons starting in 2016 while a feature film premiered in 2002.
