What You Need to Know About UP Diliman's K-Drama Elective Class
Karen Jane Ng
There's nothing quite like the feeling of binging on Korean dramas. But, to be able to delve deeper into it, that's another story. The University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication is giving students a chance to do that as they are now offering an elective class on K-drama analysis for school year 2020-2021.
But, before you get too excited, take note about these details:
1. The class will be virtual. If you plan to enroll, you must have a stable internet connection, a gadget (desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone) with camera and audio features, video conferencing application (Google Meet, Messenger, Zoom or Viber,) and a University Virtual Learning Environment account.
2. It will focus on three K-dramas. Throughout the semester, you will be analyzing the 2020 hit series Crash Landing On You, 2017's Chicago Typewriter and 2014's Misaeng, so you will need an access to it probably through having a Netflix subscription.
3. You must be a UP student. It's open to all colleges in the University. But, if you are a student from a different school interested in the class, you can enroll for a program in UP and add the K-drama elective as an extra subject
4. It has limited slots. The college is offering three classes for the course topic with 25 slots for each. But, as of the moment, all are full. The demands are high, however, with around 300 indicated in UP's chart, who knows? New slots might open soon.
We never thought that we'll find an exciting reason to attend online class. Are you ready to go back to school, K-drama fans?
