It's been over a decade since the last installment of the High School Musical movie series hit the silver screen. This 2020, it's about time we get our heads back in the musical game.
Award-winning director Kenny Ortega—the man behind the Disney original that introduced us to Troy Bolton, Gabriella Montez, Sharpay, and Ryan Evans—is producing yet another musical series that's expected to inspire us to keep dreaming.
Julie and the Phantoms revolves around teenager Julie (played by emerging theater actress Madison Reyes) who loses her passion for music after her mom dies, but finds a reawakening while helping "The Phantoms"—a trio of ghost musicians who convince her to create a band together!
Taking on the roles of the ghosts are Charmed's Charlie Gillespie, Adventure Time's voice actor Jeremy Shada, and Nickelodeon's Owen Patrick Joyner. It will feature guest appearances from American Horror Story and Descendants 3's Cheyenne Jackson, Twilight's Booboo Stewart, and Riverdale's Alison Araya.
Also on board with the production are Descendants and Mirror Mirror's Paul Becker. Julie and the Phantoms starts streaming on Netflix on September 10th.
