KATY PERRY "Beyond Impressed" With TWENTY ONE PILOTS' "Level Of Concern"
During her Asian press conference and surprise fan event for her upcoming album Smile, Katy Perry expressed her admiration for her fellow artists who are putting in effort to release new music amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our very own VJ Edward got to ask the pop star at the virtual conference about the songs that helped her get through the quarantine period. Katy said she's "beyond impressed" with Twenty One Pilots' latest single "Level Of Concern". "So, in the very beginning of, you know, the world locking up, Twenty One Pilots came out with 'Level Of Concern' and I think, maybe they came out with it in April or something but I was like, 'Oh my gosh!'
Katy added: "The turnaround time for this song and the video that came with it was so brilliant. I was like the finger on the pulse of what was going on and it showed... you know, I've always been such huge fans of them and I would love to collaborate with them in the future."
The mom-to-be also shared that she's been listening to Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift during the lockdown. "Obviously, I was excited like anyone else for Dua's record to come out and then for Gaga's record, and for Taylor's record so I listen to them in my car so when I'm driving back and forth to see my parents in Santa Barbara, and it's about an hour and a half drive and so, I'll just, you know, 'cause I'll see them every couple of weekends and a great record will come out, right? And I'll just press play, go for a drive, listen to it and have, like, this experience."
The "Daisies" singer continued: "It's been amazing and I know how difficult it is to actually put out music. We've already had, you know, some moments where we've had to pivot and manufacturing and COVID. I mean, it's, I would say, five times as hard to put out music these days and have actual, you know, physical assets like vinyls or you know, fun merchandise 'cause there's, you know, a lot of things are shut down, of course. So I commend anyone that's still, you know, persisting."
Katy Perry's much awaited album Smile finally drops on August 28.
