JAMES GUNN Promises First Look At 'The Suicide Squad' Later This Month
With the inaugural DC FanDome just around the corner, The Suicide Squad director James Gunn provided some update regarding the project and confirmed that we'll get to see our first official look later this month.
The Suicide Squad will be a "soft reboot" and not a complete revamp of the 2016 DC film. The film will see Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, and Jai Courtney all returning to reprise their roles, with the addition of Idris Elba, Pete Davidson, John Cena and more.
Replying to a fan on Twitter, Gunn assured everyone that the project will be all him, without interference from the studio. The Guardians of the Galaxy director also revealed that we're set to get a teaser at the virtual DC event happening on August 22.
I can confirm #TheSuicideSquad is 100%, zero interference, no-holds-barred ME, &, again, I can't wait for you guys to get a glimpse of it at #DCFanDome. (Yes, I'm pimping FanDome a lot, but that's because I know how exciting it's going to be - for my film & other stuff too!😬) https://t.co/CClwKIi5nS— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) August 4, 2020
According to Gunn, the film finished filming right before the quarantine period began. The Suicide Squad is slated for release in 2021.
