In an Instagram post, the singer-actress—who is also referred to by fans as "President"—shared a powerful message to fans: "Pagbabago, hindi abuso. Pagkakaisa, 'wag mang-isa. Hawak kamay, 'wag hugas kamay. I'm a Filipino. I stand for my country. We deserve better!"

She then captioned her post with "Nakikiisa sa bayan na lumalaban" with the hashtags #ItoAngSONAko and #SONAgkaisa.

Several other Filipino artists and musicians joined #SONAgKAISA, a virtual concert staged as a protest coinciding with President Duterte's fifth SONA. A physical demonstration was also held at the University of the Philippines in Diliman.
