GRACIE ABRAMS Says Performing For MYX Awards 2020 Is "Trippiest Thing Of All Time"
Heartbreak balladeer Gracie Abrams graced the MYX Awards 2020 on July 25 (Saturday) with a heartrending performance of her single "I Miss You, I'm Sorry." But prior to that very emotional number, the 20-year-old rising artist went live with VJs Ai dela Cruz and Anton Fausto for a MYXclusive interview.
In it, she shares how performing at the MYX Awards 2020 is "the trippiest thing of all time." She said, "I just so desperately wanna be there in person," adding how the opportunity felt unreal and mind-boggling. "I won’t believe it until it’s over."
Later on, when asked about her impression of Filipinos, Gracie revealed that she has never been to the Philippines nor has she personally met any friends from the country. However, "Everybody that I talked to through Instagram is like just the kindest, most enthusiastic."
She added, "It’s something that stuck with me, and it’s why I’m so particularly excited about this opportunity." Gracie also went on to reveal that she and her team are actually planning on expanding her virtual tour to Southeast Asia. We're hoping Manila is on the list.
Until then, watch her full MYXclusive interview below, where she also shared whether or not she enlisted the help of her father—critically acclaimed Star Wars and Star Trek director/producer J.J. Abrams—for her music videos.
"I Miss You, I'm Sorry" is part of Gracie's seven-track EP minor, which captures the different stages and different feelings in a relationship. "There are so many stages within being heartbroken, and then just feeling really isolated," she explained. "I wanted to kind of highlight even just in terms of the production, like sonically, how it felt in the moment."
Listen to her debut EP below.
