American Indie Pop-Rock Band WALLOWS Raves About 'High School Musical 2'

Childhood friends turned three-piece indie pop-rock band from Los Angeles, Wallows, plays some buoyant, deep sounds with vibrant visuals. They have a rich '90s influence growing up but there's also something from the 2000s that helped shaped their brand of music: High School Musical—the second installment, in particular.
Drummer Cole Preston recalled re-watching the iconic Disney film recently. "I watched High School Musical 2 yesterday or two or few days ago, and as ridiculous as it being 'Disney' and there are things about it that are so insane, it's so good!" he admitted on a MYXclusive interview. "It's cinematic! It is so captivating! I was laughing out loud the entire time because it is so ridiculous! I think that sense of joy is kind of what inspires us."
Aside from 2000's pop culture, he continued to explain about their influences by citing that "in the '90s, some of the most amazing music was being made from an artistic standpoint. So it's just like an insane smashing together of worlds that I think is cool."
Vocalist Dylan Minnette, who's also known for his role as Clay Jensen in 13 Reasons Why, also shared a story of him and his brother holding a viewing party when it aired back then, knowing all the lyrics to the songs, and singing along to its soundtrack. "'What Time Is It' is a smash," he raved.

They performed it for the first time after raising $7,500 for The Bail Project and played out the studio recording when the donations reached $10,000.
