HONNE Recalls Loudest-Ever Fans On Manila Gigs
In 2018, we had London duo HONNE recall their fondest memory from their first-ever visit to the Philippines in an exclusive interview over the phone. At that time, James Hatcher said that it was being on stage and looking out in the sea of faces that were singing along to their songs.
But during a recent press conference exclusive for Philippine media that was held via Zoom, James and Andy Clutterbuck got more specific. "My favorite [memory of the Philippines] is probably one of my favorite memories of any gig ever and it was during the mall shows," he said, recalling how they did two mall shows in one day within two hours of each other.
"So the second one, we’re like, 'Oh my God. We’re gonna die. This is the night that we die…' We turned up and it was outside as well so it was super hot," James remembered. "But then we went out and the crowd, it was just huge, it was like sprawling out to the sides. And they were the loudest singing group of people I’ve ever come across in my life. It was absolutely insane."
"Wasn’t it the first time we did 'Location Unknown' a capella?" Andy asked to which James answered in the affirmative. James added, "That just gives you so much energy. It’s crazy to come all the way to the Philippines and have thousands of people sing back our lyrics to us. It’s really, really special. You remember moments like that forever."
HONNE last visited the country in November 2019 and even served as our MYX Headliner for January 2020. Check out these MYXclusive features:
