Fans Celebrate 15th Anniversary Of 'Batman Begins'
15 years ago, Christopher Nolan changed the entire face of the Batman film franchise when he introduced the groundbreaking Batman Begins, the first piece of what would become the legendary Dark Knight trilogy.
Starring Christian Bale as the caped crusader, Batman Begins gave the iconic DC character a more in-depth origin story not seen in previous films and a sense of realism which inspired future superhero films.
Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins" was released in theaters on this day 15 years ago, the first film in his Batman trilogy. - "I wanted to try to do it in a more realistic fashion than anyone had ever tried to a superhero film before," said Nolan. "I talked a lot about films I liked, particularly the 1978 "Superman," which is the closest thing to what I proposed. Obviously, some of it is dated, but it's an epic film, with a certain realistic texture. I wanted to make the Batman epic you expected to have been made in 1979."
Bale proved to be an effective Bruce Wayne/Batman and would lead the franchise in two more blockbuster — 2008's The Dark Knight and 2012's The Dark Knight Rises. To this day, many fans still consider him as the best live-action iteration of the character and we really can't argue with that.
Batheads all across the globe celebrated #BatmanBegins15 on Twitter. See some of the reactions here:
15 years ago today, my favorite of the Nolan DK trilogy was released in theaters. I remember Batman Begins came out with much less hype than a typical Batman movie but it grew an audience over time, through word of mouth.— DirkTheDaring 🇨🇦 (@DirkTheDaring46) June 16, 2020
