HALLE BAILEY Responds To Online Criticism Over 'The Little Mermaid' Casting
When it was first announced almost one year ago, Halle Bailey's casting as Ariel in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Disney's The Little Mermaid garnered mixed reception from fans of the 1989 animated classic.
But the young singer-actress is handling the "backlash" extremely well ahead of what could be a make-or-break performance. Talking to Teen Vogue with her sister and music partner Chloe, the 20-year-old star shared how she maintains a positive attitude despite the criticism. "We've always learned to just keep our heads up no matter the situation. No matter what anybody has to say about you...just keep pushing."
Halle's casting was officially confirmed in July 2019. She will star opposite Jonah Hauer-King who will portray the dashing Prince Eric. The film would've started production last April but it got halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
