Drag Playhouse PH presents DISCOnnection Night: House 628 Virtual Ball
In celebration of Pride month, Drag Playhouse PH has created a web-party series by queer individuals for queer individuals – House 628 Virtual Ball. For their 2nd installment happening this Saturday, June 13 at 10pm over at Zoom, the night’s event is called DISCOnnection Night.
The theme is heavily inspired by the iconic Studio 54 where the Club Kids Culture was born. It is also a great reference to how the art of Queer and Drag was introduced into the mainstream. By joining the Zoom room, participants will be able to experience the nightclub feels in the comfort of their own homes. They can drink and socialize through the group chat while enjoying DJ sets featuring all eras of Disco.
Attendees are expected to log in and be in drag. There will be a Vogue Showdown and Lipsync Battle that is open for all interested individuals. In true Ballroom tradition, the panels will be judging and scoring the contestants and the audience in the room also have a minute to vote. Winners will receive cash tips from the organizers and merch from sponsors. The program also includes a short video about LGBTQ+ advocacies such as SOGIE equality and HIV awareness.
House 628 Virtual Ball is part of Drag Playhouse PH's efforts to #KeepDragAlive in light of the pandemic which has severely impacted the Drag industry due to bars and club closures.
