HAILEE STEINFELD Talks Possibility Of All-Female 'Spider-Verse' Film
The success of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse served as a huge opening for Sony to expand their animated universe. And with 'Spider-Verse 2' officially confirmed for 2022, one of the film's lead stars Hailee Steinfeld is giving fans an update regarding the proposed all-female spinoff flick.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Hailee was asked if there's still talk of doing the all-female spinoff. She said: "Not that I know of, I am not in the know with these things." The 23-year-old singer/actress added that due to the COVID-19 situation, everything had to be put on hold. "It's funny, because I feel like this is the time to figure it out. But I do think, obviously, everything has kind of been slightly put on hold. So there hasn't been much that I've heard lately."
News about the female-centric spinoff was first announced in November 2018 and is said to feature not only Gwen Stacy but also Madame Web, Spider-Woman, and Silk among others. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 is scheduled for an October 2022 release.
