JP SAXE's "If The World Was Ending" Feat. JULIA MICHAELS Resonates With Current Times
Canadian artist JP Saxe wrote his latest hit "If The World Was Ending" in July 2019 and shared it with the world in October without any idea that the track will soon reflect people's current situation in the midst of a global health crisis.
The hitmaker shared with VJ Samm how the song came to be, "A couple weeks before [Julia Michaels and I] wrote it together, there was an earthquake in Los Angeles and I wrote in my journal during the earthquake is ‘If the world was ending, you’d come over right.'" He added, "And then in the session I told Julia that line and we started talking about that idea in this kind of hypothetical catastrophe that would make you want to have the people you love as close as possible. We had no idea that a few months later, it wouldn’t be a hypothetical catastrophe anymore that would make the song resonate with people."
JP also said during the MYXclusive interview that "at the heart of this song is just the idea that you want to put love first." In fact, he has heard stories of people hearing the song and being inspired to reach out to a family member or a parent or a sibling that they haven’t spoken to in a long time.
"I have a new song coming out really soon. It’s a little bit more fun," he teased without giving further details of the upcoming release. But until then, you can watch the music video for "If The World Was Ending" which also stars collaborator and now-girlfriend Julia below:
