MIKEY WAY Says MCR Reunion Is "Just On Pause"
Killjoys were pretty pumped up after My Chemical Romance made their triumphant return in late 2019, six years after they decided to part ways.
The emo rockers played a successful reunion show at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles last December and it wasn't just a one-off comeback as they later revealed plans to do a series of international tours.
But due to the pandemic, some of their shows including legs in Australia, New Zealand, UK, Ireland and Czech Republic had to be delayed until 2021. Now, the band's bassist Mikey Way is opening up regarding the postponement of their shows and the impact of COVID-19. In an interview with BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat, Gerard's younger bro said: "It’s easy for me to say we had a plan, but everyone had a plan, you know what I mean? I’m trying to take myself out of a selfish place. Everyone I know was about to do something."
He added: "Whether you’re in a band, you’re a director, you work a retail job, you’re a gardener – you had a plan, and now it’s been disrupted."
In the end, Mikey assured fans that after the dust settles, we'll see them back on stage like they promised. "Live music isn’t going anywhere, it’s just on pause for everybody. I feel like people are waiting with bated breath. It’s a light at the end of the tunnel and I think there’s something really cool about that."
