SKEET ULRICH Explains Why He's Leaving ‘Riverdale’: "I Got Bored Creatively"

Back in February, Riverdale fans were caught by surprise with the sudden exit of Skeet Ulrich and Marisol Nichols from the show, both stars saying that the fourth season is going to be their last. At that time, the actor who plays F. P. Jones—the father of Cole Sprouse's character Jughead Jones—issued a statement, explaining how he has decided that "it’s time for me to move on to explore other creative opportunities."

But during a recent Instagram Live with his model girlfriend Megan Blake Irwin, Skeet was asked again why he exited the show and his response was almost the same as his earlier statement, albeit a little harsher. "I’m leaving Riverdale because I got bored creatively. That’s the most honest answer," he said.

Riverdale shut down its production in March due to the COVID-19 threat. So instead of the original 22-episode run, the cast and crew had to end the fourth season three episodes early. Don't worry, though. Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told TVLine: "We've been talking and planning on doing a time jump, and of course, usually time jumps happen in between seasons, because there's a tease at the very end. [But] what we're doing is picking up right where we left off for the first three episodes, and then doing a time jump."
