THE 1975 New Song "Guys" Is An Ode To Their Long-Standing Friendship
The members of The 1975 have already been together for nearly two decades and they're showing no signs of quitting on each other—and us. "Guys" is a song about the long-standing friendship among Matty Healy, Adam Hann, Ross Macdonald, and George Daniel.
"I really love this song. It’s really, I don’t know. It’s really nice. It is really quite earnest. It’s quite real,” Matty told Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1. "I don’t really look back very much either in that regard, like properly sentimentally. So it was nice to do that."
He added, "I think I just wanted to write a love letter to friendship, as opposed to every love song being about our romantic relationships. I think that our friendships are obviously our most formative relationships. So shout out to the homies."
"Guys" is the closing track on the British band's upcoming fourth album Notes On A Conditional Form due out May 22. It marks the 8th single out of the massive 22-track, 80-minute record that the band has rolled out ahead of the official release.
