HAILEE STEINFELD's New Album Reveals How She Bounced Back From Heartbreak
We've been starving for Hailee Steinfeld's full-length music project ever since we discovered her vocal chops in Pitch Perfect 2. And now, Half Written Story, the first part of her two-part album, has finally arrived!
Everyone expected the project to detail Hailee's post-breakup journey which became evident in the previously released singles "Wrong Direction" and "I Love You's." But the other three tracks—"Your Name Hurts", "End this (L.O.V.E.)", and "Man Up"—strikes the perfect balance between the 23-year-old actress-singer's vulnerability and boldness.
"I really do feel like it was an accomplishment to come up with a small collection of songs that represent multiple, if not all, of the emotions that you feel when you're going through a breakup. Or at least for me," she opened up to Forbes prior to the album release.
She added, "It's like one day you wake up and you're angry and pissed off. That's one of the records. The next day you wake up and you're confused, frustrated and lost. And then the next day you're empowered and confident and getting yourself back and it's an amazing feeling. That all happens in waves, it's not even stages. I was going in and out of feeling all of those things."
