'Meteor Garden' Made Its Philippine TV Debut 17 Years Ago Today!

On May 5, 2003, our afternoon viewing habit was changed forever when Meteor Garden made its Philippine television premiere.

Safe to say, it's the show that truly kickstarted the Asionovela invasion of the 2000s. The phenomenal success of the Taiwanese drama series starring Barbie Hsu, Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Ken Chu and Vanness Wu also gave birth to the "F4 Fever" which swept away the country - and even dominated the MYX charts - 17 years ago.

The series would later be moved from its afternoon slot to ABS-CBN's primetime block due to its immense popularity.

Pinoy fans were in full throwback mode as they celebrated MG's 17th anniversary in the country. It's time to play "Qing Fei De Yi" on repeat!
