LEA SALONGA Joins MERYL STREEP & Other Broadway Legends In Online Concert
Broadway's finest all came together to take part in a special online concert in celebration of legendary composer Stephen Sondheim's 90th birthday.
Take Me to the World is a special 2-hour show that also served as a fundraiser for the Artists Striving to End Poverty (ASTEP). It featured a star-studded ensemble including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Meryl Streep, Patti LuPone, Neil Patrick Harris, Kristin Chenoweth, Josh Groban, Aaron Tveit, Jake Gyllenhaal, and our very own Lea Salonga.
I couldn’t... like, I COULD NOT with this Zoom call. https://t.co/A1sHpbLRi9— Lea Salonga (@MsLeaSalonga) April 27, 2020
Lea performed a hair-raising rendition of "Loving You" from the musical Passion and delivered a heartfelt tribute to Sondheim whose works include Sweeney Todd, Into The Woods, and West Side Story. "I just wanted to wish you a very happy 90th birthday. I think it is absolutely fantastic that you have allowed for ASTEP to raise funds as part of this celebration."
Back from breastfeeding just in time to hear Lea Salonga crush the song I used to listen to over and over when I was 18 to justify being in love with a toxic asshole— Rachel Bloom (@Racheldoesstuff) April 27, 2020
