Recap: PIA WURTZBACH, CATRIONA GRAY Headline ‘Rise As One’ Online Concert
Miss Universe titleholders Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray headlined Rise As One: An Online Concert last April 12 to send a message of hope and love as the nation adjusts to the new reality of life due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fellow beauty queen and LoveYourself ambassador Gazini Ganados also graced the event with a reassuring message.
The two-hour virtual show featured a heartfelt rendition of the late music icon Bill Withers' hit "Lean On Me" from Angeline Quinto, Katrina Velarde, Daryl Ong, Michael Pangilinan, Eumee Capile, Kim Molina, Lucas Garcia, Rhap Salazar, and more. Another version of the classic was performed by members of the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) Jimi Marquez and Anna Fegi, supplemented by messages of love and hope of volunteers around the country for the HIV community and COVID-19 affected families.
Premier wedding band 3rd Avenue brought some ray of light with their uplifting version of Michael Jackson's "Heal the World" and John Lennon's "Imagine". Meanwhile, Filipino drag queens Lady Gagita, Dee Dee Marie Holliday, JCourse, Viñas, Turing, Aries Night, Victoria Salt, and many more, showcased stunning lip synch performances.
Aside from livestream performances, the Rise As One event saw the launch of LoveYourself's telehealth program called iCON or interactive consultation which enables clients to consult with a healthcare professional for their medical needs amidst the imposition of the extended community quarantine." The organization also reiterated its LoveYourself Xpress Refill program that enables people living with HIV (PLHIV) clients and non-clients to restock on their life-saving medicines.
And as Catriona said, "the only thing that unites us stronger than fear—is hope. No one will be left behind!"
