Darren Espanto is using his wide social media reach to raise awareness among the youth on how to keep safe amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As United Nations Development Programme youth advocate, the 18-year-old singer takes on a vital role in youth-led and youth-focused initiatives during these uncertain times.

"I hope to be of help [to the UNDP] especially sa mga gagawin nila in the Philippines about COVID-19," he told the MYX VJs during a recent appearance on MYX It Up all the way from Canada. "I'd like to raise awareness through my social media accounts for now since I can't really go out and physically tell people about everything that's been happening."

Darren also went on to talk about the precautions they take especially since both his parents are frontliners. He said, "Kasi pag dumadating sila from work, sa garahe pa lang, they sanitize themselves and also diretso sila naliligo, so yeah, it's something that they definitely have to get used to. Kahit kapag nag-go-groceries din, pagdating ng bahay, sina-sanitize muna namin sa door pa lang... Kahit nasa bahay kami, we practice social distancing."

Still, he reassured fans that having your parents work on the front lines is "really nothing to be scared of if you know what you have to do."
