JC STEWART Talks About "Lying That You Love Me" And Possibly Coming To The Philippines
Our pre-quarantine lives were so busy and fast-paced that it was almost impossible for us to keep up with every new music release and discover the best new artists on the rise. But in this period of self-isolation, we have a lot of time in our hands to do both.
With that said, one of the most promising artists that we came across is Northern Irish singer JC Stewart who had just released a video for his latest sad boy anthem "Lying That You Love Me". In fact, VJ Samm got the chance to talk to the 23-year-old about the said track and its accompanying visual in a MYXclusive interview.
JC shared how "Lying That You Love Me" came to fruition during a 3-hour train ride with his friends. He recalled how each of them had a similar experience of having to pretend with someone they have already fallen out of love with. "Back when I was younger, when I was 19, I was in a relationship back then," he told VJ Samm. "Even if you do [love her], you still kinda lie. When things are ending but you haven't ended it yet, you're just kinda going through the motions, I think it's always a lie, but you still keep it up anyway."
JC took inspiration from the popular television series Sex Education and The End of the F***ing World for its music video. "I just love the way they look and the idea behind it," he said. "It just looks really out of place but it also makes load of sense. It’s just this kind of weird— it’s not even dark but there’s something off about whatever is happening."
As he spoke about his music, he confirmed that he'll be dropping a new song in a few weeks, and that he will be filming the video on his phone by himself.
Before signing off, JC had one last message to his Filipino fans: “I can’t wait to come out and do a show in the Philippines very soon. It’s gonna be amazing. We’ll have fun times. I’ve heard the Philippines has amazing food so I’m very excited to try that."
