Alex Gonzaga has apologized after tweeting unverified information pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the now-deleted tweet, the actress-vlogger shared a forwarded message which has since been debunked by the Philippine General Hospital. "There is no such observed trend with our observed COVID-19(+) patients acquiring the illness from groceries," the PGH Advisory reads.

"Hi yes! Sorry i deleted it na! It was forwarded kasi from a friend na may contact sa doctors. Pasensya na," Alex replied to a netizen who called her out.

She also defended herself from the same netizen who lashed out at her, "Wala ka na ngang ambag, nagkakalat ka pang bobita ka." Alex clapped back: "We are trying to help the best way we can. Lahat ng lumalapit kung pwede mabigyan tulong tinatry namin. Kung di pa ambag sayo yun, pasensya na. Napakadami mo na siguro nagawa at natulungan kaya nahihiya kami sayo. The best ka."

Despite apologizing and deleting her post, some are calling on the National Bureau of Investigation to look into the matter while others went on to defend Alex.

Responding to a fan who lamented about her positive contributions being overlooked, Alex wrote "That is why we don’t need people’s validation for our good deeds. Si Lord na bahala sa atin. Alam nya puso at intention ng bawat isa."
