LOOK: KATY PERRY Gets Slammed For "Shading" BRITNEY SPEARS!
Oops, she did it.
Katy Perry is under fire for apparently shading Britney Spears' 2007 head-shaving breakdown (twice!) at the Grammys red carpet.
The "Chained To The Rhythm" singer spoke with Entertainment Tonight, talking about her new blonde hair and seemingly referencing the Britney incident.
"I was just telling you that it's like, the last color in the spectrum that I can do. I've done all of them and the only thing left to do is shave my head, which I'm really saving for a public breakdown. I'm down for that," Katy said.
Talking to Ryan Seacrest, she told a similar joke when he opened the topic of taking a break from music, to which she replied, "It's called taking care of your mental health. I haven't shaved my head yet."
Some viewers, especially the Britney Army, found her comments offensive. They started the #KatyPerryIsOverParty on Twitter, saying that it is not appropriate to make fun of mental illness. Check out some of their tweets!
But @katyperry we still not letting that Britney joke you told on the red carpet slide. Mental illness isn't funny. Stop trying to be quirky— Jordan (@jordansdiamonds) February 13, 2017
It's funny that Katy Perry makes fun of Britney shaving her head when that moment is more iconic than Katy's whole career ??????— Gabriel Zanipatin ? (@GZanipatin) February 13, 2017
Katy Perry shading Britney and mocking mental illness in the process is about as cute as her new single... ? pic.twitter.com/uKMAZPwDIZ— Shady Music Facts (@TheFactsOfShade) February 13, 2017
Not long after, Britney shared a Bible verse on her Twitter account which people assume is in response to Katy's comments!
Her mouth speaks from that which fills her heart ?? Luke 6:45 pic.twitter.com/L7YPi3Iirl— Britney Spears (@britneyspears) February 13, 2017
What can you say about Katy's head-shaving joke? Tell us in the comments!
