PSA from Jess & Pat's: You Can Still Watch a Gig While in Quarantine!
If you're an avid gig-goer, you've probably been to Jess & Pat's and felt right at home. From their intimate venue to their alcohol-free menu, this humble spot along Maginhaw St. surely gives us a whole different gig experience that we can't get anywhere else. Sadly, as we all follow the quarantine measures amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, dropping by our favorite gig place is far from possible at the moment.
But, considering just how much Jess & Pat's cares about their community, they've cooked up something that lets us enjoy gigs even from the comforts of our bedrooms! Introducing Team Bahay Gig Series, Jess & Pat's is staging online gigs via Facebook for a cause! To know more about this initiative, here's our quick chat with the team behind the gig venue that's closest to our hearts:
What is Team Bahay Gig Series, and what made you decide to pursue it?
Jess & Pat's has always been about togetherness and supporting the local art scene. Amid the crisis we are facing now, we wanted to be a source of encouragement for the community -- solidarity is needed now more than ever. While there is much we can do, we came up with the Team Bahay Gig Series. This is an online fundraiser and a simple initiative to spread kindness and encouragement. The goal of Team Bahay Gig Series is to remind people that even though we're in our homes, we can still help others through donations and spreading vital information about the pandemic.
The Team Bahay Gig Series is a testament that we're still together even when we're apart.
How does it work?
People can watch the Team Bahay Gig Series through the Jess & Pat's Facebook page. Details for the online fundraiser are posted on a Facebook Event Page, which we publish at least a day before the scheduled gig.
How's your experience so far?
So far, we've had three artists perform for Team Bahay Gig Series. TJ De Ocampo, vocalist and guitarist of Munimuni, was our guest when we launched the initiative on March 18. Then, it was followed by hiphop artists Kiyo and Because -- all artists serenaded the guests with their original songs and some covers. They also answered a bunch of questions from the fans.
What can we look forward to?
The next Team Bahay Gig Series will feature Clara Benin, this is scheduled on March 26 at 9pm. We will be announcing more artists to be featured in the gig series soon! Just tune in to the Jess & Pat's Facebook page for announcements!

What message do you want to impart with gig-goers in this time of crisis?
It's a difficult time but we believe we'll get through it... together! We hope everyone is safe and doing precautionary measures. If you can, we urge you to be a blessing to others and donate. There are a lot of beneficiaries to choose from, organizations that support healthcare workers, other frontliners, and the homeless in Manila; there's also an ongoing fundraiser for our roadies orchestrated by Red Ninja Productions and Indie Manila. If you're looking for a way to support your favorite artists, you can also purchase their official merchandise at www.jessandpats.com.
We can't wait to hang out with you soon! For now, we'll see you in our Team Bahay Gig Series! :)
