KEAN CIPRIANO Speaks Up Following Backlash Received From COVID-19 Tweet
Netizens criticized Kean Cipriano after he aired his stance on the current coronavirus pandemic.
In a tweet, the O/C Records head shared his sentiments regarding the outbreak in a post: "Ang pera, kayang kitain. Ang trabaho ay nahahanap, napapalitan. ANG BUHAY AY IISA LANG. We’re talking about humanity here. Paano tayo makakapagtrabaho at kikita ng pera kung buong Pilipinas may Covid-19. This is just temporary. Magtulungan tayo and we’ll make it through."

ANG BUHAY AY IISA LANG.
We’re talking about humanity here.
Paano tayo makakapagtrabaho at kikita ng pera kung buong Pilipinas may Covid-19.
This is just temporary. Magtulungan tayo and we’ll make it through.
The tweet was met with tremendous backlash from people who mistook his message. A lot of them even called the Callalily singer "privileged."
Hi, sir. Easy to say that if you are in your own bubble of privilege.
Humanity, sure. But at least be realistic.
I get what saying and some like you and me can afford to do that - but we're coming from a place of privilege. Pano yung mga arawan ang bayad? Yung mga pag di kumita today, magugutom mamaya? Yung mga jeepney driver? Yung mga factory worker? Pano sila? Sana may suporta sakanila.— Shirley Anne Corral (@shurlieeeian) March 16, 2020
Not all filipinos have privileges like yours. Be considerate.— binsent (@bllvncntdlgzn) March 16, 2020
hahahahhaah check ur privilege— Litz A. (@AteLetletNiViv) March 16, 2020
Kean then took to social media once again to explain his side, clarifying that he meant no harm with his initial statement: "Wala akong masamang intensyon. All I'm saying is, let's stay home for now. Ngayon na kumakalat ang virus."
He added: "I'm not saying na wag ka magtrabaho.. o palitan ang trabaho. Syempre kailangan magtrabaho. Pero ngayon, wag muna. Kasi nga may virus."
In the end, Kean said he understands that people have differing opinions regarding the matter but insinuated that now's the time for peace and unity: "Sa panahon na 'to, ang kailangan natin magtulungan at magkaisa. Hindi magpilosopohan o maghanap ng butas sa kapwa."
