UNIQUE's Mother Asserts That He Is The Original Writer Of "Mundo"
The debate on who really wrote IV of Spades' hit "Mundo" is back on.
The argument was renewed when a fan called out Viva Records for giving sole credit to former IVOS frontman Unique Salonga as the songwriter of "Mundo" and not acknowledging Zild Benitez on the YouTube cover by Raphiel Shannon. Even Zild's mom Jennifer Garon Benitez got involved and claimed that her son is "a legitimate co-writer" of the 2018 hit.
After #GiveCreditsToZildBenitez became a top trending topic on Twitter, UNIQUE's mother Llewelyn Torralba asserted that her son is the original composer of the controversial song. Posting an image of the "Bukod-Tangi" artist on Facebook, she captioned: "A silhouette picture of a very good singer and a very talented artist, the ORIGINAL composer of the song, MUNDO, my unico hijo UNIQUE T. SALONGA."
"I'm always proud of you, son. Keep on writing songs and keep on sharing it to the world. Mama will always protect all your creations! I love you!" She ended her post with the hashtags #MundoByUnique and #MoveOnNaKasiKayo. Whoa.
Both Zild and UNIQUE have yet to comment on the issue. Meanwhile, check out the latter's MYX Music Awards 2019 performance of his solo hit "Sino" here:
