Fans Furious After IV of Spades' ZILD BENITEZ Wasn't Credited As Co-Writer Of "Mundo" By Viva
Fans of IV of Spades stormed Twitter after bassist Zild Benitez was not given credit as the co-writer of the band's hit "Mundo" in a YouTube post on the Viva Records channel.
Twitter user @HeneralpauLuna was among the first to call out Viva while a Change.org petition followed suit.
I thought you're all about promoting OPM music? Ano 'to, @VivaRecords?— #GiveCreditsToZildBenitez (@HeneralpauLuna) February 16, 2020
"Mundo" was written by Unique Salonga AND Zild Benitez.
The song belongs also to Zild, not just Unique. It's still his intellectual property.
GIVE PROPER CREDITS!!!

The issue stemmed from newcomer Raphiel Shannon's cover which is part of On Vodka, Beers and Regrets' official soundtrack. According to its description, "Mundo" was solely written by former IV of Spades vocalist Unique Salonga.
Avid Spaders expressed their dismay on the microblogging site, with the hashtag #GiveCreditsToZildBenitez becoming a top trending topic. Here's what some of them had to say:
I hope other fandoms will help us trend this hashtag.— #GiveCreditsToZildBenitez (@HeneralpauLuna) February 16, 2020
We're raising a voice here.
IV of Spades is already a well-known band here in the PH and yet, ginawa pa sa kanila ito.
What more yung mga bagong banda pa lang diba?
IV OF SPADES' TWBA Interview: When Tito Boy asked about Mundo, here's another proof that Zild is one of the writer of that masterpiece.#GiveCreditsToZildBenitez#GiveCreditsToIVOfSpades pic.twitter.com/TqQBPq93Ai— drea #GiveCreditsToIVOfSpades (@glitzspades) February 17, 2020

Iilang letters lang yan parang salitabg RESPETO!
You gave respect for the other one but failed to respect to zild? #GiveCreditsToZildBenitez
As you all know, Zild Benitez and Unique Salonga wrote the song 'Mundo' but the Viva Records only credited Unique Salonga for the song (see comment). The song belongs also to Zild, not just Unique. It's still his intellectual property.#GiveCreditsToZildBenitez https://t.co/0Vjnf5hWvL— brizzy_dexyy (@dexterdacuma) February 17, 2020
Even Zild's mom Jennifer Benitez cried foul over the snub and stressed that her son co-wrote the song. She said: "RESPECT RESPECT RESPECT. MY SON ZILD IS A LEGITIMATE CO WRITER OF MUNDO. Tumatahimik lang kami pero it's all over 'di ko na kinakaya ginagawa nila sa banda at sa anak ko." Viva Records and O/C Records - which is listed as the song's publisher - have yet to comment regarding the issue.
In early 2018, IV of Spades fans were shocked when UNIQUE left the group during the height of the song's popularity. Following his exit, Zild, Blaster and Badjao appeared on the MYX Music Awards and played "Mundo" for the first time as a trio. Check it out here:
