Find Out Which Songs EBE DANCEL Wishes He Wrote!
We're eager to dig deeper into the mind of the ever-brilliant singer-songwriter Ebe Dancel!
As the MYX Headliner for February, the "Bawat Daan" hitmaker answered different questions about his songwriting style, preference on movie franchise giants, thoughts on looking back at the past, current LSS, and more!
In the video, Ebe was put on the spot by a question forcing him to choose which songs he wishes he wrote. But he easily answered with the Oscar and Grammy-winning song "Moon River," originally written by Johnny Mercer and first performed by Audrey Hepburn. If you've been following the Sugarfree frontman's music career, he actually did a cover of this song back then.
Other songs he chose were "Ang Huling El Bimbo" by the Eraserheads and the Rivermaya hit "You'll Be Safe Here" composed by his good friend and fellow MYX Headliner Rico Blanco.

His 2015 hit single "Bawat Daan" is also a magnificent work of art that aspiring artists out there wish they wrote as well. Watch Ebe Dancel as he goes raw and unplugged on this MYX Fullscreen performance of the said song here:
Things are going pretty well for the veteran artist who has received a warm welcome back in Polyeast Records after signing a new recording contract with the record label which first trusted and signed Sugarfree in 2003.
This new deal is set to pave the way for him to release Baliktanaw—a 10-track album with re-recorded Sugarfree songs—just in time for the band’s 20th anniversary.
“It’s like looking back [and], at the same time, a reunion with my first label, PolyEast Records. It’s like coming home, really,” he said of his original record label. "I've been telling the fans... the band is gone but the songs really live on and this is mostly for them."
According to Ebe, the songs will sound a bit different from its original recording because he will "re-record the songs [in] the way I picture it in my head—with strings, with horns, and with a lot of elements."
He also acknowledges that the younger listeners today might need to be re-introduced to the songs of his former band, which was formed back in 1993: "It's also an introduction to the new fans dahil gano'n na kabata ang mga fans ngayon at di nila naabutan ang Sugarfree so hopefully, that bridges the gap."
For all the Sugarfree fans out there who are wondering which of our many favorite songs Ebe chose to be re-recorded, here are Baliktanaw's tracks aside from his solo single "Hanggang Kailan Kita Mahihintay":
