5 Local Love Teams That Deserve A Comeback This Year
It's impossible to picture the showbiz industry here in the Philippines without love teams, a pair of two gorgeous celebrities who are depicted by the public as a romantic couple based on television shows and kilig moments that they have together. While there are many love teams today that became reel-to-real, there are also a few ones that parted ways for reasons we may never know.
As much as we understand that not every love team can work together for a long time, we can't deny that these five love teams still have a place in our hearts which is why we think that they deserve a comeback this year!
Born out of the success of daytime show Be Careful With My Heart, MarNella was one of the biggest (and cutest) love teams of 2012. With their characters Nikki and Nicolo's adorable love story, everyone fell in love with MarNella's offscreen chemistry, too! That's why most of us didn't expect their love team to end so soon, yet we're thankful that they remained friends until now. MarNella even had a brief interaction on Twitter last week with Marlo's profile picture challenge!

2. McCoy De Leon and Elisse Joson (McLisse)
One of the love teams that started inside the Pinoy Big Brother house in 2016, McLisse stole our hearts with their kilig moments. And when they left the house, viewers immediately knew that these two were going to be one of the biggest love teams of this generation! But in March 2018, the love team had a fallout with a reason that they did not disclose. Despite this, they released their first film together entitled Sakaling Maging Tayo, which might have been a gift to their fans due to their love team breakup. Still, a lot of people were heartbroken, so we're hoping they can that McCoy and Elisse can make a comeback this year!
3. Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto (JoshLia)
These two weren't originally going to be a love team, but when fans adored their chemistry in their first project together entitled Vince, Kath, and James, their journey as one of the biggest tandems began! For four years, the two became inseparable. Although they never confirmed their relationship, everyone knew that the two were officially together after spending the holidays with Julia's family. But in 2019, JoshLia ended their relationship and stated that they're now back to being "best friends." Still, JoshLia fans are hoping for these two to patch things up and work in a new project together again, which might be possible after their sweet moments during Block Z's promotions!
4. Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla (KathNiel)
The moment that KathNiel was paired up in the 2011 afternoon teen show Growing Up, it was like magic which proved to be an enduring one considering that they're still hailed royalties many years later. As much as we're thrilled to know that their relationship is still going strong despite having solo endeavors, we do admit that we miss seeing them in a show together. That's why when Kathryn shared a poster of their new project on Twitter, excitement is an understatement to describe what we felt! Mom and dad are back!

5. James Reid and Nadine Lustre (JaDine)
JaDine first caught our attention with their chemistry at the 2014 film Diary ng Panget, which was their breakthrough film. Years later, the James and Nadine have become our favorite millennial couple with their matching style and overall hip vibe. Unfortunately, JaDine confirmed that they broke up after being together for four years at the beginning of 2020. Still, we're looking forward to seeing them collaborate music-wise soon!
The world of showbiz is ever so predictable, so we're confident that everything is possible even for these love teams! Fingers crossed!
