Will LOONIE Be Part Of The FlipTop Festival? President ANYGMA Answers
We’re days away from the FlipTop Battle League celebrating its tenth anniversary with a grand two-day event—The FlipTop Festival!
One of the biggest FlipTop rappers, Loonie is noticeably missing from the festival's lineup, which was announced before the "Tao Lang" hitmaker was released from the Makati City Jail. Now that he's been freed on bail, we asked FlipTop president Anygma if there's a chance Loonie could join the festival.
In a MYXclusive interview with VJ Ai dela Cruz, the FlipTop founder said that it's "not impossible” though he personally wants for Loonie to enjoy more time to relax and bond with his family.
“The few times we have corresponded, the gist of what we talk about is me telling him to keep his chin up and to enjoy his family time. Don’t even think about the festival. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn’t, you deserve that time to recuperate,” he shared about their recent conversations.
Though it seems Loonie would be taking his much-needed time off, Anygma also recognized its huge impact if his dear friend could make an appearance: “But it would definitely be great, it would be fitting. It would be a humongous victory, or at least the celebration of the victory, of his release. Hopefully. There’s no promises and no talks, really, about it. I’m really trying to give him his space and I’m trying to help him in whatever way I can."

With over 200 artists in the lineup—including Gloc-9, Shanti Dope, Abra, Smugglaz, and many more—performing in three stages, The FlipTop Festival aims to put a spotlight on various elements of hip-hop, not limited to performances and battle rap.
It aspires to showcase other important facets of the thriving culture, including graffiti-making, scratch competition, turntablism, DJ-ing, and b-boying or break-dancing.
Make sure to join this groundbreaking festival this coming February 7 and 8 at the Aseana City Concert Grounds.
