LEBRON JAMES Pays Tribute To KOBE BRYANT: "I’ll Continue Your Legacy"
The sudden passing of NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gigi in a helicopter crash sparked an outpouring of shock and grief from the basketball community and beyond.
Almost a day after the tragic incident, current Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has finally broken his silence with a heartfelt tribute for Kobe on social media. "I’m not Ready but here I go. Man I sitting here trying to write something for this post but every time I try I begin crying again just thinking about you, niece Gigi and the friendship/bond/brotherhood we had!" he confessed in an Instagram post.
LeBron revealed that he spoke to Kobe on the phone before the team flew back to Los Angeles from Philadelphia, with several current Laker players listening in on the call.
"I promise you I’ll continue your legacy man! You mean so much to us all here especially #LakerNation💜💛 and it’s my responsibility to put this shit on my back and keep it going!!" he added. "Please give me the strength from the heavens above and watch over me! I got US here!"
"There’s so much more I want to say but just can’t right now because I can’t get through it! Until we meet again my brother!!" he concluded.
Included in his message were a series of pictures of the two together. He also changed his profile picture to a photo of Kobe and Gigi.
Kobe's last Instagram post was to congratulate LeBron for surpassing his record as the third highest scorer in NBA history. "On to #2 @kingjames! Keep growing the game and charting the path for the next," he wrote.
