QUEEN Becomes First Band To Be Commemorated On British Coin
Legendary rock band Queen's legacy has reached a new high as they become the first band to be commemorated on British coin.
The collectible pieces, designed and created by Royal Mint's Chris Facey will be released in celebration of the band's 50th anniversary. Facey has been a longtime Queen fanatic. Commemorative postage stamps featuring the "Bohemian Rhapsody" hitmakers are also set to be be launched in July.
Guitarist Brian May reacted to the honor on Twitter. He said: "This is a big ‘Who could have imagined it?’ moment for us. When we began as Queen, even the first rung of the ladder to recognition seemed remote and unreachable. To have our band recognized and our music celebrated in this way is very touching, a real honor."
