LANA CONDOR Auditioned For The ‘High School Musical’ Reboot
Every High School Musical-obsessed individual would have loved to be part of the popular Disney franchise. Case in point: Self-proclaimed HSM fan Lana Condor took the first step into making such dream into a reality when she auditioned to be part of the new set of Wildcats in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
In an interview with Teen Vogue, Lana recalled—with help from her boyfriend Anthony dela Torre—that time she tried out for a role in the spin-off four years ago with the Christina Perri hit "A Thousand Years". Although she didn't land a role in the reboot, Lana still remembers the experience as "an amazing memory."
Lana also went on to explain how Vanessa Hudgens, the original Gabriell Montez, inspired her. "She kind of looks like me and that's the first person that I've ever really seen that looks like me that has a lead role in something. So I've always looked up to her," she said about the Fil-Am actress.
It all worked out in the end, though, as Lana eventually landed her breakout role in To All The Boys I've Loved Before. "I looked up to Vanessa Hudgens when I was a kid and now there are girls, like me when I was little, that are probably looking up to me [as Lara Jean Covey]," she added. "[It’s] weird but I'm okay with it."
