John Frusciante's return to Red Hot Chili Peppers after a 10-year absence sent massive shockwaves throughout the rock community and it looks like the lineup we've all grown to love is beyond ready to hit the recording studio for the first time in over 13 years.

Drummer Chad Smith revealed to Rolling Stone that the iconic RHCP lineup will begin working on their new album. "For now, we’ll mostly be concentrating on new songs and writing a new record. We’re all real excited to make new music," he said. The new LP will be Frusciante's first order of duty since returning to the band. His last work with the Chili Peppers came in 2006's Stadium Arcadium.

John made his shocking comeback last December, officially replacing Josh Klinghoffer who took over for him in 2009.
