ED SHEERAN Officially Starts Hiatus On Christmas Eve
Sorry to spoil your Christmas Eve, Sheerios! But our favorite redhead's indefinite hiatus from social media and doing shows officially starts now.
Typical of the down-to-earth musician, Ed Sheeran made the announcement with a short note on his Instagram account: "Hello all. Gonna go on another break again."
"The Divide era tour changed my life in so many ways, but now it's all over, it's time to go out and see some more of the world. I've been a bit [non-stop] since 2017 so I'm just gonna take a breather to travel, write, and read," explained the English singer-songwriter.
Changing his profile picture to a simple white "BRB" on black background, Ed also sent a heartfelt message to his loved ones: "To my family and friends, see ya when I see ya - and to my fans, thank you for always being amazing."
"I promise to be back with some new music when the time is right and I've lived a little more to actually have something to write about. Lots of love x," he ended.
Sheerios aren't complaining though. Messages of support came pouring in for the Grammy-winning artist who had previously come back from a year-and-a-half hiatus back in 2016 with his record-breaking album ÷ (Divide).
"It's ok. About time the radio plays someone else's songs too," Instagram user @itsemerald44 commented. Another fan (@thealevera) pointed out, "If every break leads to an album like Divide, take all the time you need, Ed."
Back in August of this year, Ed has also announced his then-upcoming 18-month hiatus during the last stop of his massive Divide world tour in Ipswich, England.
We'll be waiting, Ed! In the meantime, let's revisit his MYXclusive interview with VJ Ai dela Cruz in Japan in the video below.
