DRAKE Addresses Beef Rumors With THE WEEKND On New Song "War"
Drake addressed previous beef rumors with protégé and fellow Canadian rapper The Weeknd in his new track titled "War." In it, he raps, "And the boy that sound like he sang on "Thriller" / You know that’s been my n*gga / Yeah we just had to fix things, family, 6 tings, we can’t split up."
As you may recall, both artists' storied history was first tainted with controversy when The Weeknd (real name: Abel Tesfaye) chose to sign with Republic Records instead of Drake's label OVO Sound. Later on, Abel claimed that he "gave up almost half of [his] album" for his mentor's Take Care, and rumors that their friendship is on the rocks began to swirl. And yet the pair continued to shoot down such speculations with various collaborations. Most recently, Abel appeared to have taken a jab at Drake once again on the Gesaffelstein song "Lost in the Fire."
Meanwhile, the visuals for "War" finds Drizzy and his friends on the ski slopes at night. Watch it below.
"War" is part of the newly released El-Kuumba Tape Vol. 1, a collaboration between OVO's Oliver El-Khatib and Kuumba International.
