ROXETTE Singer Marie Fredriksson Passes Away At 61
It must have been love but it's over now...
Marie Fredriksson - one-half of the Swedish duo Roxette - has passed away at age 61 after a 17-year battle with cancer. The voice behind the 1990 hit "It Must Have Been Love" is survived by her husband Mikael Bolyos and their two children Josefin and Oscar.
Per Gessle - her long-time collaborator in Roxette - said in a statement: "Thank you, Marie, thanks for everything. You were an outstanding musician, a master of the voice, an amazing performer. Thanks for painting my black and white songs in the most beautiful colours. You were the most wonderful friend for over 40 years. I’m proud, honoured and happy to have been able to share so much of your time, talent, warmth, generosity and sense of humour. All my love goes out to you and your family. Things will never be the same."
Aside from "It Must Have Been Love" which was part of the Pretty Woman soundtrack, Marie also lent her powerful voice to Roxette hits like "Listen To Your Heart", "Dangerous" and "The Look".
