Intense is an understatement to describe the Esports competitions happening at the Southeast Asian Games 2019!

After a grueling best-of-five series, Team Sibol Philippines grabbed the gold medal for MOBA game DoTA 2, outlasting the talented Team Thailand, 3-2. The series indeed went down to the wire! Sibol secured the first game while they got dominated by their opponent on the second. The host country managed to do an epic retaliation during the thrilling third game yet Thailand still wanted a decider match for the gold as the latter won Game 4.

It all went down to the fifth and final game wherein the two teams went all out with their respective game Hero drafts and strategies. During the early and mid part of Game 5, Thailand gave each and every Pinoy esports fan a scare after dominating every single Sibol player. Everyone thought that the PH team will lose the gold medal match until a fierce comeback happened during the late game team fights.

The Sibol DoTA 2 team comprised of Mc Nicholson ”Mc” Villanueva, John Anthony ”Natsumi” Vargas, Jun ”Bok” Kanehara, Marvin Salvador ”Boomy” Rushton, Bryle Jacob ”CML” Alvizo, Van Jerico ”Van” Manalaysay and James Erice ”Erice” Guerra gave the Philippines its second gold medal for Esports after that thrilling match. Kudos and GGWP Team Philippines! Lakad Matatag!

Team Sibol Philippines grabbed its first gold medal for Esports in another MOBA game, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. And today, we won another Esports gold medal for StarCraft II after PH player Caviar Acampado defeated Singapore's Thomas Kopankiewicz.
