SHANTI DOPE Continues To Juggle Studies And Music Career
In just less than two years, Shanti Dope has risen to the the top of the OPM scene, winning various honors including Urban Video of the Year at the MYX Music Awards 2019 for his hit "Nadarang".
The 18-year old breakout rapper will serve us more surefire hits this 2020 as he recently renewed his contract with Universal Records. He's keeping his new "Materyal" top secret, but he assured everyone that they will like his new sound.
Shanti was only 16 when we first interviewed him back in 2017. Now of legal age, he has four tattoos and wears swaggy grills. But aside from his more mature look, he's still the same as before - especially his passion to further hone his songwriting.
Another thing that hasn't changed: his commitment to finish school despite already having a successful career. He is now a Grade 11 student at MINT College where he's surrounded by other budding musicians.
Medyo nakakatuwang aralin. Saka para lang din kaming naglalaro kasi mga kasama ko doon musician 'din, mga kaklase ko," he shared in our MYXclusive interview during his contract signing with UR.
As for his upcoming releases, Shanti is keeping tight-lipped but he said exciting collaborations are coming our way. So 'yun," he teased.
"Baka monthly makarinig kayo ng kanta sa akin," he added. We are looking forward to that next chapter of yours, Shanti Dope! In the meantime, watch his MYX Live! performance of "Nadarang" below:
