Big Machine Has Allowed TAYLOR SWIFT To Sing Her Pre-'Lover' Material At AMAs
Hey, Swifties! After the dispute between 'Artist of the Decade' Taylor Swift and her former record label Big Machine regarding her upcoming American Music Awards performance, Tay is now allowed to sing her old tunes!
Last week, Taylor accused Big Machine head Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun - who acquired her entire discography before Lover - of not allowing her to perform her old material at the AMAs.
Now, Big Machine has issued a statement which essentially greenlights Taylor's upcoming AMAs performance highlighting her biggest hits from the past decade
In a statement they issued to Billboard, a representative from the record label said Big Machine has "agreed to grant all licenses of their artists' performances to stream post show and for re-broadcast on mutually approved platforms. It should be noted that recording artists do not need label approval for live performances on television or any other live media."
I said in an interview 13 years ago "I'm just hoping that I have a second album that does as well as the first and someday get to be a headliner, and always be the same person that I started out as.” Scrolling through your posts today has me feeling all the feelings & I want to thank you. Because of you, there was a 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th and 7th album. You guys made me into a headliner because you wanted to see me play. And your support all these years is what’s helped me stay true to that kid I was when I started out. #13yearsoftaylorswift
"Record label approval is only needed for contracted artists’ audio and visual recordings and in determining how those works are distributed," the statement continues.
The record company originally dropped what looked to be a joint statement with AMA's Dick Clark Productions. However, the show's producers have denied involvement in Big Machine's original statement. "At no time did dick clark productions agree to, create, authorize or distribute a statement in partnership with Big Machine Label Group regarding Taylor Swift’s performance at the 2019 American Music Awards. Any final agreement on this matter needs to be made directly with Taylor Swift’s management team. We have no further comment."
That being said, we're just so excited to see Taylor's performance! The 2019 American Music Awards is happening on November 25!
