CHINO MORENO Promises New DEFTONES Album In 2020
2020 is already shaping up to be a great year for rock music with the triumphant return of Rage Against The Machine and the long awaited reformation of My Chemical Romance. A new Deftones record will also arrive next year according to singer Chino Moreno.
Thank you to our fans, fellow artists, friends, family and our partner @livenation for another incredible @DiaDeLosDeftones celebration. It was a beautiful night filled with art, music, and culture, and we were thrilled to spend it with all of you. Until next year! #DDLD19 #DiaDeLosDeftones 📷: @clemente_310
Moreno revealed that the Sacramento-based alternative metal band has been working on the followup to 2016's Gore for a year now. In an interview with NBC 7 San Diego, the frontman walked us through the new album's creative process. "It’s been a cool process, we get together, we work for a couple weeks, whether that’s just making noise and coming up with ideas and then everybody just goes home and comes back to work on ’em a little bit more. So, we’ve been doing that for a little over a year or so."
"This summer, we actually went into the studio and recorded an album’s worth of music. So, the music was pretty much done and the last few months have sort of just been working on the lyrics and the melodies and the singing parts. So that’s pretty much where we’re at right now," Chino added.
Lastly, he guaranteed that the new LP will come out sooner than we think. "Of course, it’ll be out next year, hopefully earlier than later. Our biggest thing is making sure that it’s good. We’ll be performing it, once it’s out, for the next two or three years, so we want to be sure it’s the best it can be and want to make everyone happy — including ourselves.
