You'll Drown In Love With Indie Band MERYL's Song "Dagat"
For up-and-coming indie pop act Meryl, it will always be their goal to provide listeners a fitting soundtrack to their respective love stories.
The four-piece band, composed of LJ Panganiban on bass, Amiel Mina on drums, Jearlo Chongco on guitars and synth and Justin Señeres on vocals and guitars, recently dropped a groovy track called “Dagat”. It's a charming tune that paints a picture of a one-sided love affair, comparing the person they love the most to the sea.
Meryl revealed first here on MYX how they were able to come up with this melancholic song wrapped in such upbeat rhythm. "'Dagat' was written through the inspiration of loving someone similar to the sea. Its nature is unpredictable, making it not the easiest to give affection to," the band shared.
“Like most of us, we find ourselves always going back to the sea, thus the ending line "Sana maisip mo, ako'y para sa'yo"," they added.
According to Meryl, “Dagat” is the fruit of their really tough collaborative effort. Produced by UDD's Ean Mayor, the whole song is a grand mix of each member’s emotions and inspirations.
"Nalulunod ako. Nalulunod sa lungkot." Listen to “Dagat” below and reminisce that sad love story of yours!
