SLAPSHOCK And Southest Asian Supergroup PROJECT EAR Are Performing In Your Area

MYX Philippines

Posted at September 10, 2019

Celebrating 10 years of friendship, making music, and piloting a movement that cuts across geographical, cultural, social, political, and philological borders, Southeast Asian “superband” Project E.A.R. (East Asian Revolution) finally got back together to record new material and further the group’s cause of binding relations with our SEA neighbors and affecting global trends through the power of music.

Launched officially back in 2008, Project E.A.R. is a collective composed of some of the best acts from the SEA region, most unique in the sense that Project E.A.R. is probably the only band in the area – and, most probably, in the entire world – that consists of members from at least five different countries and nationalities.

Moots! from Pop Shuvit (Malaysia), Jamir Garcia of Slapshock (Philippines), and Dandee from Bangkok Invaders (Thailand) initially founded the group with the vision of fostering stronger friendship amongst their SEA counterparts and elevating Asian music to global heights; Project E.A.R. eventually debuted with additional members from Thaitanium (Thailand), Saint Loco (Indonesia), and Ahli Fiqir (Singapore)

You probably read about their latest single "Destination Nowhere" here on and it's also the namesake of Project E.A.R.’s current world tour – and which will see the group perform in the Philippines, Slapshock's hometown, for the first time.

Their 11-track dual EP was recorded in Malaysia and features new names to the group’s line-up: Wing Meng from post-hardcore band Love Me Butch, Emmett of the legendary Butterfingers, James Dewees of The Get Up Kids and Reggie and the Full Effect, and Ray Toro from My Chemical Romance. Unlike their previous records, Conflicts & Resolutions exudes a heightened sense of songwriting and wisdom from the group and delves deeper into serious, more personal issues such as mental health and depression, as well as examining the recent state of affairs of the SEA region for the last 10 years. “Destination Nowhere” and the two EPs will, however, still feature the band’s same unique signature that combines the coolness of hip-hop and the tenacity of rock n’ roll, yet all the while producing a gloomy, bittersweet touch of relatability with every rhythm and word. And if you can’t wrap your head around such peculiar assortment of sorts, then maybe it’s about time you check in with the Project E.A.R. revolution.

With all that being said, you can catch the supergroup live in Manila with Slapshock on their “Destination Nowhere Tour” featuring James Dewees (The Get Up Kids / My Chemical Romance) at the Arkipelago, Makati City on September 13 and with local acts EVEN and Saydie at SM City Trece Martires, Cavite on September 14! Now you know where the "destination" is, you guys have to be there!
