THE WEEKND Debuts New Look On The Red Carpet
We have gotten used to The Weeknd's clean cut since he chopped off his signature dreadlocks prior to the release of his 2016 album Starboy.
But after nearly three years, the R&B singer finally decided to change things up a bit and debut a new look. Abel stepped out with less facial hair and an afro on the red carpet of the 2019 Toronto International Film for the premiere of Uncut Gems.
The 29-year-old artist will make his feature film debut in the said crime thriller starring Adam Sandler, Idina Menzel, Julia Fox, and LaKeith Stanfield. According to Variety, he will play himself in the movie. The article read, "The script heralds The Weeknd’s eventual arrival when one character discusses how the then-unknown singer is going to be a big deal — 'even though he’s from Canada.' When the singer finally arrives in the movie flesh, he’s performing 'The Morning,' a cut from his debut 2011 mixtape 'House of Balloons,' released a year before he got to putting out a proper album."
